Our client, an Investment company, is currently recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer – Java to join its Galway based team in a Contract role.

 

Role / Opportunity:

 

We require a Software Engineer to:

  • Provide estimates & designs; develop and test code to meet application requirements.
  • Participate in architectural design reviews.
  • Resolve issues and/or identify approaches to solutions.
  • Comply with architectural and coding standards.
  • Support implementation and post-installation testing and fixing of any problems.
  • Understand and follow agile methodology for project delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (Architecture, Database, QA, etc.).

The successful candidate will:

Skills / Experience:

  • 4+ years experience as a Software Developer.
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Strong expertise with the Java programming language.
  • Software development experience and associated development languages, platforms, platform utilities and tools to include:
    • Languages: Java, Javascript/4.0, HTML 4+, XHTML, CSS,
    • Application Servers and development tools: Eclipse, Visual Studio 2008/2010
    • Frameworks: Spring, Hibernate, iBatis
    • Tools: IBM Rational Clearcase, Hudson
    • Operating Systems: Linux, UNIX, Windows XP/7
  • Good knowledge of service layer architectures (e.g. Web Services).
  • Experience in Object Oriented design and development including design patterns.
  • Skills in deploying applications to TomCat, Linux.
  • Must be able to work under minimum supervision and be a team player.
  • Ability to work in a global team with constituents in US and Ireland.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Highly motivated with willingness to take ownership / responsibility for work.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment.
  • Flexibility to travel to Boston, US as required.

Additional skills desired, but not mandatory

  • Agile development experience.
  • Specific technologies: HTML 5.
  • SQL Development Tools such as TOAD or SQL Developer.
  • Experience using middleware and integration technologies such as SOAP (over XML/HTTP), SOA.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services or Mutual Fund industry.
